We talked about the recent Chinese stock rally in the podcast this month, but is it investable again long-term? There are lots of structural challenges the Chinese economy (and by extension, the market) is facing. Major stimulus to fix them could keep the rally going, but if it isn’t delivered the rally could fizzle out.


September Employment: Some Sizzle in a Cooling Trend by Wells Fargo

September’s job report was strong and welcome news given the weaker few months before it. The evidence still points to a cooling labor market, but we could see a 25 bps rate cut in November instead of 50 bps given this report.

The number of Northerners going to Southern schools went up 84% over the last twenty years and 30% from 2018-2022. This will benefit the region’s economy, put budget demands on those schools, and perhaps force schools in the North to do better on price and aid.
